Assisted Living, Made Personal
The Gardens at San Carlos isn't a resort or grand facility—and that's exactly why families choose us. We're a real home: warm, unhurried, and designed around the people who live here. With just ten residents, personalized attention isn't something we strive for—it's the natural result of the living environment. Our caregivers see your loved one as an individual, not a resident number.
Our approach to assisted living is built around balance. We're here to provide the right amount of support—help with bathing, dressing, medication, and daily tasks—without stepping on the independence each resident values. Because our home is small, caregivers aren't stretched thin across a hundred residents. They know each person's preferences, their rhythms, and when to step in or when to step back. Care here feels personal and respectful, not procedural or routine, because that's what truly makes a place feel like home.

Our caregivers are the heart of life at The Gardens. We hire for warmth, patience, and genuine connection—not just experience. We carefully select team members through in-person interviews that include time interacting with residents. Every caregiver is certified through the Arizona Nursing Board and holds CPR, First Aid, fingerprint clearance, and food handler credentials, with ongoing training and mentorship from our on-site administrator.
We mentor our team in a highly personalized, person-centered approach to assisted living—helping caregivers understand each resident’s routines, preferences, and abilities so support feels natural and respectful. Our on-site administrator also has advanced training in dementia care, including Montessori-based techniques, so residents who later need memory support benefit from the same thoughtful, well-prepared team.

ASSISTED LIVING WITH A HEART
Assisted living should feel simple, not overwhelming. Our small, calm home is easy to navigate and settle into. Residents receive support when needed and space when they don’t, with familiar routines and meaningful daily activities without the noise of a large community.
Our home is warm, tidy, and truly lived in. The living room is a natural gathering place where residents watch classics, enjoy activities, or relax together. Each shared space feels familiar and comfortable, supporting ease and daily well-being.

Tucson’s sunshine is one of its quiet gifts, and we make the most of it. Residents enjoy the courtyard and outdoor spaces daily, especially in the cool mornings. Quiet time outside, family visits, and fresh air all support emotional well-being.

Fantastic! So difficult when a loved one enters into assisted living. The people at the Gardens at San Carlos are all angels! My husband was there for nearly three years, I was welcomed every day, and was even allowed to bring his dog!

Most amazing establishment that I've seen an many years.

Our assisted living residents typically need support with daily activities—such as bathing, dressing, mobility, or medication—but may not have a diagnosed memory condition.
We’re a great fit for those who prefer a quiet, close-knit environment over a large, high-activity facility. Many of our assisted living residents appreciate the slower pace, simple routines, and warm relationships here. And because we also specialize in dementia care, residents who do experience cognitive decline over time don’t need to move again—we’re already equipped to support them.
It's hard to capture it all in a list, but here's what families mention most often:
-A warm, home-like setting that doesn't feel institutional
-Direct access to the management team—always reachable
-Personalized meals, activities, and care built around each resident
-A calm, small-home environment that helps residents settle in quickly
We'd love to show you these details and more during an in-person visit.
Learn More About Life at The Gardens
Our pricing is personalized based on each resident’s room selection and level of support with daily activities. Unlike many larger communities that itemize every service—charging separately for things like medication reminders, bathing assistance, or mobility help—we provide a more straightforward monthly structure that reflects your loved one’s overall care needs. This approach is more cost-effective and makes budgeting much easier for families.

We offer daily activities tailored to each resident's abilities and interests—including music, light movement and stretching, creative arts, storytelling, baking projects, classic film screenings, and simple games. Therapy animal visits and musician guests also bring variety and joy. Activities are designed to stimulate the senses and support emotional connection, and participation is always encouraged but never required.
All caregivers at The Gardens are licensed through the Arizona Nursing Board and hold CPR, First Aid, fingerprint clearance, and food handler’s credentials. They also complete state-approved training in memory care and dementia support.
We have advanced training in dementia care, including the Montessori approach to memory care, and provide ongoing, hands-on mentorship to our team that goes well beyond state requirements. Training here isn’t a one-time checklist—it’s an ongoing part of how we care.
Great care begins with truly knowing each person. From move-in on, we learn every resident’s story, routines, and comforts—and keep learning over time. Caregivers know the details that matter, from favorite foods and music to sleep patterns, hearing aids, and how someone takes their coffee. Written resident profiles guide every shift for consistent, personalized care, and our resident council ensures each voice is heard in daily life.
Yes—visits are always welcome and never treated like a formality. Families are encouraged to come by, share a meal, sit outside by the pool, or simply spend time together. Our preferred visiting hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., though we're flexible for families with different schedules—just coordinate with us in advance if you're planning a later visit.
For group visits or special requests—like bringing outside guests or pets—we just ask for a quick heads-up so we can make sure the timing works well for everyone in the home. But everyday visits? Those are part of what makes this feel like home.
